Justify this!
I just watched "White House Christmas" detailing the holiday decorations for 2004. I am aghast!
How, in the name of anything you please, do they justify putting up 41 trees, each one of which has its lights installed by certified electricians working 16 hours a day! Perhaps that's why Georgie wanted to do away with overtime pay.
Bush is bankrupting our future with the Iraq war and Laura is decorating with twice as many trees as last year! This is insane, totally irresponsible and shows just how out of touch these people really are.
They are spending OUR money. Does it even occur to them to economize a bit to compensate for the wartime spending? The rest of us are tightening our belts, why not the Bushes? I'm so mad I don't know what else to say.

41 trees. That must be where the Sydney Town Hall decorations went. Or the one that didn't go up in Canberra, anyway. I've often found the White House decorations over the top, even during the Clinton years. It's a kind of ostentatiousness so holier-than-thou that I've tuned it out over the years as too reminiscent of those television specials, "Christmas with the Osmonds" or whatever, all fake snow and fake cheer. I'm getting grouchier all the time. Bah. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year.
